Critical Characteristic

Any characteristic, feature or parameter that can be actually measured, (usually using variable type data), to evaluate the quality and/or reliability of a design or process that is deemed to be the most susceptible to the design or process performance and/or design or process safety. Should be defined as what parameters need to be monitored for six sigma. (also see our page DFSS, design for six sigma)

You may want to do a criteria matrix on these types of characteristics. They should be defined during the initial PDR, (Prototype Design Review).
