QA – Quality assurance
Department or act of maintaining products
or services to insure conformance to customer
requirements or other specifications. Related more to a quality system
than a quality plan. When using six sigma,
QA should watch for the design margins, (i.e. the 1.5 sigma), shift
when doing quality inspections.
Most important tools for quality assurance
are inspections, typically using some sort of stratified
sampling plan and utilizing random
sampling with control
charts using SPC, (Statistical
Process Control).
Quality assurance team members should be a
involved in all design reviews such as, CDR,
(Concept Design Review), MDR, (Manufacturing
Design Review), PDR,
(Prototype Design Review), PPDR,
(Post Production Design Review), and have knowledge of such
items as preliminary plans.
