PDCA – Plan Do Check Act
Model or set of tools, usually associated
with ISO-9000 standards but is also
incorporated into six sigma plans, for
continuous improvements also sometimes referred to as the Shewhart Cycle
or the Deming Cycle.
This is accomplished by “think first,
then do”, because thinking is less costly than doing. (i.e. Work
Smarter, Not Harder)
| Plan
– What to identify or
accomplish? |
|
Act
– What have we ascertained? |
 |
Do
– Initiate the strategy or
plan. |
|
Check
– Evaluate the outcome of the
strategy or plan. |
Start over with the Plan phase and apply
what has been learned from the previous phases or runs. Continue to do all
four parts sequentially over and over till the process,
procedure, or service has improved to the point of satisfaction.
