ALT - Accelerated life test
Test that are conducted on products, processes,
etc., for the purpose of which is to find and identify mechanisms that
cause wear out and not to find individual defects.
The test for electrical components, for example, may be to put a sample
of the product in a temperature chamber and cycle the temperature from hot
to cold while changing the humidity from high to low, and electrically
biasing the part, for a time period of 30 days, which could represent a
duration of 10 years.
Can be used to test the design life for durability.
